Meet 2 Girls' Highlights!

Last Friday evening, the Greece Athena Indoor Track and Field team began its Winter Recess by competing in the second Rochester Winter Track League meet of the season at RIT. All hands were on deck as the team took advantage of a varied order of events to compete at some new distances and to season debut this year's Girls 4 x 800m relay team!

Meet 2 highlights include:

• Senior Gaby Hernandez (1500m) qualified automatically for participation in February's Class B Sectional Championships. This is the second event for which Gaby has qualified (1500m and 1000m), in addition to provisionally qualifying in the (600m run at least week's meet.
• Senior Katie Fisher (High Jump) improved upon her season best high jump performance, placing first overall with a jump of 5'00".  As of this morning, Katie's 5'00" places her second on the Class B leader board and in the top 10 Section wide in the high jump!
• Senior Casey Pollack (Triple Jump) added two inches to her season best triple jump performance, going 28' 08.5" to place 8th overall. Casey has qualified automatically for participation in February's Class B Sectional Championships!
• Junior Faith Gruver (1500m) took nearly 7.5 seconds off her previous best time in the indoor 1500m run (5:48.09 last year), by posting a very competitive 5:41.49. Faith barely missed provisionally qualifying in the event (missing by 0.25 seconds!) in just her first run in the event this year!
• The Girls 4 x 800 m Relay consisting of Gaby Hernandez, sophomore Janelle Handley, Faith Gruver and junior Sarena St. Louis combined for a solid 11:15.69 to place 7th overall!
• Complete meet results will be available online at Yen Timing later this weekend.

Hernandez (along with best friend hurdler Alex Weigand) prepare wrap the coach's car!
