Whether a Personal Record (PR) was in the cards, or the opportunity to try a new event, each student-athlete came away with some new insight that will serve them well as we continue into the heart of our schedule and strive to qualify for Sectional competition. Meet 3 highlights include:
- Senior Gaby Hernandez PR'd in both the 600 and 1000 meter runs. Gaby had previously provisionally qualified for February's Class B Sectional Championships in the 600m but improved upon her previous time by almost 4 seconds, automatically qualifying her in the event! In her first 300 meter dash this season, Gaby also provisionally qualified in that event with a run of 47.15! After only three meets, Gaby has automatically qualified in the 600, 1000 and 1500 meter runs, and provisionally qualified for the 300 meter dash.
- Senior Katie Fisher (High Jump) matched her best high jump performance of the season, with a jump of 5-00. Katie also added to her repertoire of events by competing in the Long Jump for the first time. Impressively, Katie hit a jump of 13-08.00, provisionally qualifying in the event for the Class B Sectional Championships
- Junior Kelsea Halloran improved upon her previous PRs in both the 600 and 1000 meter runs!
- Sophomore Janelle Handley had an excellent day running the 600 meter run for the first time and provisionally qualifying with a time of 1:56.68! Janelle also improved upon her 1000m PR, inching ever closer to the Sectional qualifying standard.
- Sophomore sprinter Susan Doan PR'd in both the 55 and 300 meters dashes--an impressive double feat for a holiday meet!
