Meet 1 Wrap-Up (Girls)

With the first meet in the books, there is quite a lot to look forward to as we plan for our next meet on this Friday, December 21, back at RIT. The Greece Athena Girls team had some wonderful performances from experienced competitors and  a number of exciting debuts from first time indoor student-athletes.

Meet 1 highlights include:

• Seniors Gaby Hernandez (1000m), Katie Fisher (High Jump), and Deborah Kitenge (Long Jump) each qualified automatically for participation in February's Class B Sectional Championships.
• Seniors Gaby Hernandez (600m), Casey Pollack (Triple Jump), and junior Faith Gruver (3000m) all posted provisional qualifying performances.
• The following student-athletes improved upon their seed times: Sarah Sotack (600m & 300m), Ivana Hernandez (600m), and Casey Pollack (300m).
• This year, each girls established a goal time for one of the events in which they would be competing during that week's meet. The following student-athletes either achieved their goals time: Gaby Hernandez (600m), and Katie Fisher (High Jump).
• The following student-athletes within striking distance (10% performance increase) of their personally established goal: Faith Gruver (3000m), Susan Doan (55m), and Janelle Handley (1500m).
• This meet also saw the debut of this season's team t-shirt thanks to Janelle Handley and her parents!
